The third meeting of the High Council of Standards was held under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and 117 new standards were approved

The session began with the recitation of several blessed verses from the Holy Quran.

 

This meeting, chaired by Alhaj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, took place in the Marble Palace. Participants included Alhaj Mullah Faizullah Tamim, Director General of the National Standards Authority, Mawlawi Muhammad Asif Qanit, the Technical Deputy of the same authority, permanent members of the council (deputy ministers and directors of relevant ministries and Authorities) and representatives from the private sector.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Alhaj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, delivered valuable remarks about the importance of improving quality and ensuring transparency. Emphasizing the gravity of this responsibility, he said: “The assigned tasks, especially today’s meeting, are a great responsibility and a trust, which must be utilized in an appropriate and effective manner.”

 

He added: “We have gathered here today to achieve quality and, in light of our international interactions, to align our products with global standards.”

 

Following him, Alhaj Mullah Faizullah Tamim spoke comprehensively about the importance of strengthening the foundations of national quality and the standardization process in the country.

 He stated that strengthening the national standardization system and quality infrastructure paves the way for high-quality production, increases public trust in domestic products and helps prevent the circulation and import of low-quality goods.

 

He further noted that the formulation, implementation and promotion of standards across all sectors can lead the country toward self-sufficiency.

He presented the annual report of the National Standards Authority and stated that 247 standards and testing methods were finalized by technical committees and 5,028 copies of standards and testing methods were distributed to ministries, government Authorities and the private sector.

 He added that during this period, the implementation of national standards in 60 factories and companies was also monitored.

Afterward, Mawlawi Muhammad Asif Qanit, the Technical Deputy of the National Standards Authority, presented the draft standards and testing methods to the council members for approval and provided the necessary explanations.

During the session, a specialist gave a presentation regarding the implementation and oversight of national standards and building codes.

At the end of the meeting, 117 standards and testing methods were approved and ratified by the council.

These standards cover various sectors, including quality management, food and agricultural products, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, construction materials, petroleum products, electrotechnics and telecommunications, textiles and leather, environment, chemicals and plastics, medical equipment and health, halal and mining.

At the end, the Head of the High Council of Standards, Alhaj Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, emphasized coordination and joint work among the relevant institutions and instructed the development of plans for the implementation of standards, especially in areas that affect health and safety.

The third meeting of the High Council of Standards concluded with a closing prayer.

The implementation of these standards is considered an important step toward strengthening the national quality infrastructure and will lead the country toward standardization, sustainable growth and development.
